Festival at Bissell Park on April 24 - 11 am to 3 pm
Earth Day 2010 in Oak Ridge announces Entertainment Lineup

March 5, 2010

The Earth Day 2010 festival at Oak Ridge Bissell Park on April 24 will again showcase an outstanding local entertainment lineup. Bands will play in the park band shell (Main Stage), and admission is free. More details, including performance schedule and music samples, are available at the festival web site at www.orearthday.org.

Thenderfin is a four-piece experimental folk ensemble from the greater Knoxville area. Their live show employs a broad range of instruments from mandolin to metallophone to skillet-back banjimer to create a mix of Appalachian folk and indie rock.

Christabel and the Jons is a southern swing band based in Knoxville that blends familiar standards with modern vintage sounding originals. Their music is acoustic and colorful, a blend of Appalachian mountain and vintage swing (www.christabelmusic.com).

The Lonetones are a Knoxville-based band that plays original, Appalachian roots-based music that goes well beyond the "tradition." They've been called modern folk, Americana, folk rock, folkadelic, "an Appalachian Belle and Sebastian" (www.thelonetones.com).

Soul Connection is a nine-member band that originated in Oak Ridge in the 1960s under the name of Soul Sanction. They perform their own blend of Soul, R&B, and Groove-Jazz, with dynamic male and female vocals and a horn section reminiscent of the Motown and Stax records of the '60s and '70s.

Applications are still being accepted for exhibitors and vendors, and volunteers are encouraged to sign up now! Exhibitors and vendors should have an environmental focus and incorporate means of educating, encouraging, and empowering citizens to develop a more sustainable way of life. Registration forms, guidelines, and additional festival information are available at www.orearthday.org
