They are role models and sources of inspiration. That's why the American Cancer Society is inviting all area cancer survivors to participate in the Relay For Life Survivors Celebration on Friday, May 30th starting at 6:00 PM. Survivors are asked to arrive by 5:30 to register for opening ceremonies. All cancer survivors will receive a "medal of recognition" and will be acknowledged for their strength and courageous battle in the fight against cancer. They will then take the track for the "Victory Lap".
The Anderson County Relay For Life events will take place at Anderson County High School on May 30 & 31. Contact Annette Brown at 457-3934 for more information.
Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society's national signature activity, is a team event that brings the community together to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, remember those who lost their fight to the disease and celebrate the victories of all cancer survivors.
Cancer survivors are invited to share their courage with the community and kick off the overnight event by leading the first lap of the Relay For Life. "When you see the faces of the survivors and the unbelievable courage and heroism that they possess, it is truly amazing. You are motivated to fight back and continue battling this horrible disease," said Theressa Myers, Relay For Life Survivorship chairperson.
